About GEN4SUD
Empowering Women, Enriching Futures
Gender for Sustainable Development (GEN4SUD) is a women-led grassroots organization based in Cameroon, dedicated to advancing gender equality, climate resilience, and inclusive community development. Active since 2019 and legally registered in October 2024, we work across all ten regions of Cameroon, with a strategic focus on conflict-affected and environmentally fragile areas.
Our mission is to advance gender equality and empower all individuals, regardless of gender, to actively participate in and benefit from sustainable development initiatives. We integrate gender perspectives into environmental, social, and economic programs to promote equity, resilience, and inclusive growth.
Our vision is a world where gender equality and sustainable development are fully realized, enabling women and men to equally contribute to and benefit from a just, resilient, and inclusive society.
Causes: We believe what we achieve

Gender Equality & Women's Empowerment
We believe in advancing gender equality so that all individuals, regardless of gender, can fully participate in and benefit from sustainable development. This includes challenging harmful social norms, strengthening women's leadership, economic autonomy, decision-making power, and engaging men and boys as allies for lasting change.

Climate Resilience & Sustainable Livelihoods
We believe in building resilience against climate change and environmental challenges, particularly for vulnerable women, youth, and communities in fragile areas. Through climate-smart agriculture, alternative income sources, and sustainable practices, we promote food security, household incomes, and adaptation to shocks like drought, flooding, and land degradation.

Prevention & Response to Gender-Based Violence (GBV)
We believe every woman and girl deserves safety, dignity, and protection from violence. We are committed to raising awareness, strengthening survivor-centered support (including safe spaces, psychosocial, legal, and referral services), and shifting community norms by involving traditional leaders, men, and boys to create safe, inclusive environments.

Inclusive Peacebuilding, Social Cohesion & Community Development
We believe in fostering peaceful, cohesive societies through women's active participation in peace processes, inclusive dialogues, conflict resolution, and reconciliation. This supports social trust among diverse groups, reduces vulnerabilities in conflict-affected areas, and ensures sustainable, equitable development for all.
See words from our wellbeing
"Before GEN4SUD's training, my crops failed every dry season, and my family struggled to eat. Thanks to the climate-smart agriculture program, I learned new techniques like better irrigation and resilient seeds. Now I harvest more onions and vegetables, sell at the market, and even save money for my children's school fees. GEN4SUD didn't just give me tools — they gave me hope and independence. I feel stronger and my family is thriving!"
"As a community leader, I used to see gender roles as fixed tradition. Through GEN4SUD's Mindset Change and Men Engagement workshops, I learned how including women in decisions strengthens the whole village. We now have more peaceful discussions at home and in meetings, and GBV has decreased because men are stepping up as allies. GEN4SUD opened my eyes — equality benefits everyone, and our community is more united because of it."
"I was close to dropping out of school because of early marriage pressures and lack of support. GEN4SUD's program gave me life skills training, financial literacy, and encouragement to stay in school. Now I dream of becoming a teacher and helping other girls. They made me believe in myself — I have confidence, friends, and a future. Thank you, GEN4SUD, for showing me that girls can lead and succeed!"
